The Assistants to Infancy Training
The Assistants to Infancy Training Course prepares adults for the task of helping young children to develop the fullness of their individual human potential. The course provides an opportunity to study, in depth, Montessori pedagogy and practices along with current medical and psychological approaches to child development in the first three years of life.
Course Overview
Montessori Pedagogy and Philosophy: The natural development of the child from conception to three years of age.
Anatomy and Physiology.
Obstetrics: Prenatal, birth, and postnatal development.
Nutrition and Hygiene: Maternal care, digestive system, food preparation, and health issues.
Child Neuropsychiatry: The Nervous System and normal psychological development.
Development of Movement and Development of Language.
Environment: Preparation of the home and Infant Community as an aid to human development within the first three years of life.
Music, Art, and Spiritual Development.
Observations: practical training for observation of children in maternity hospitals, homes and infant communities.
Material Making: Hand made materials.
Practicum: Work in an infant community evaluated by a course staff member.
Preparation of reference albums and curriculum albums.
The Casa dei Bambini Teacher Training Course
The Casa dei Bambini Teacher Training Course prepares adults for the task of helping young children to develop the fullness of their individual human potential. The course provides an opportunity to study, in depth, Montessori pedagogy and practices including the characteristics of the child from 3 to 6 years of age, the needs expressed during this stage of development, and the means available to assist the child's work of self-construction.
Course Overview
Psychology, child development and philosophy of the Montessori approach.
The Exercises of Practical Life and the child's Acquisition of fundamental learning skills.
Sensorial development.
Development of spoken and written language.
Mathematics.
Geography, History, Art, Biology and Music.
Supervised practice with the Montessori materials under guidance of qualified staff.
Observation in AMI classes.
Practice Teaching in AMI classes under supervision of the trainers.
Material making.
Preparation of albums containing illustrated notes of didactic materials.
The Elementary Training
The Elementary Training Course prepares adults for the task of helping children aged six to twelve to develop the fullness of their individual human potential. The course provides an opportunity to study, in depth, Montessori pedagogy, practices and child development as well as an interdisciplinary approach to the study of man, his endeavours and his relationship with the universe.
Course Overview
Montessori philosophy and practices of education with particular emphasis on the child aged 6 to 12 years.
Mathematics (arithmetic, geometry and algebra).
Language, written and spoken including functional aspects of grammar appropriate for children aged 6-12 years.
History and Prehistory.
Physical and Biological Sciences: understanding of the origins and development of the universe and of the human being's relationships to this development.
Presentations of physical and political geography which are designed to give an understanding of the interdependencies of the Earth and life upon it.
Supervised practice sessions with Montessori materials under guidance of qualified staff.
Observation in AMI classes.
